Towards a Sustainable Green Future: A Strategic Collaboration for Innovation and Applied Research

In alignment with Egypt’s national vision for green building and sustainable urban development, the National Housing and Building Research Center (NHBRC), led by Dr. Mohamed Massoud El-Saadawy, has signed a strategic cooperation protocol with the Faculty of Engineering – Matariya, Administrative Capital University (formerly Helwan University), in the presence of Dr. Amr Ahmed Abdelhady, Dean of the Faculty.

This partnership represents a significant step forward in advancing professional postgraduate education and applied research in the fields of sustainable architecture, green urbanism, climate-responsive design, and environmentally efficient construction technologies.

Key Areas of Collaboration

  • Joint professional master’s and doctoral programs focused on sustainability, green technologies, and future-ready urban development.
  • Integrated training and capacity-building programs aimed at empowering engineers and professionals in sustainable architecture and climate adaptation.
  • Conducting applied research projects that bridge academia and industry to provide real solutions for current urban and environmental challenges.
  • Co-supervision of postgraduate theses to enhance academic rigor and applied scientific outcomes.

A Partnership that Connects Industry with Science

Dr. Mohamed Massoud El-Saadawy emphasized that this collaboration aims to translate scientific research into practical, impactful applications that support the nationwide transition towards green construction, promote localized technologies, reduce construction costs, and help alleviate pressure on foreign currency resources.
These efforts directly contribute to enhancing quality of life and driving sustainable development across Egyptian cities.

Supporting Egypt’s National Strategy for Green Urbanism

The new protocol reinforces the objectives of the National Strategy for Green Construction and Urbanism, launched by H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi during the World Urban Forum hosted in Cairo.
It reflects the commitment of both institutions to advance sustainable development, foster innovation, and ensure effective integration between government bodies, academia, and industry.
